WHY YOU WANT TO AVOID STAINING INLAYS AND BONDING

The resin used for inlays and bonding is non-porous. Therefore, it will stain after time. While it will not stain as fast as enamel, the material will stain, so you need to keep this in mind.

HOW TO PREVENT YOUR BONDED TEETH OR INLAYS FROM GETTING DISCOLORED

Many times, people will opt for bonding to improve the look of discolored teeth. Because of the non-porous nature of the bonding resin, it cannot be whitened with an in-office whitening treatment. Therefore, you need to prevent staining inlays or bonded teeth. If you have your natural teeth whitened, you will need to replace the bonded teeth or inlay fillings, as they will look duller and therefore not match with your whiter and brighter natural teeth.

WHAT YOU SHOULD TO KEEP YOUR INLAYS AND BONDING LOOKING GOOD

To keep your bonded teeth and inlays looking their best, you need to make sure you stay away from foods that can stain the teeth. You can do this more easily if you brush twice a day for 2 minutes at a time and floss once daily for 2 minutes as well. Brushing will remove the surface stains that can negatively affect bonded teeth or inlays. Visit our office twice yearly for professional dental cleanings.

KEEPING STAINS OFF YOUR TEETH

To prevent tooth staining, avoid consuming staining foods or drinks, such as red wine, tea, coffee, tomato sauce, curries, or dark berries. When drinking colas or coffee, use a straw so the liquid goes to the back of the mouth and does not touch the front bonded teeth. Always drink water after consuming staining foods or drinks. Quitting smoking will also help keep your bonding and inlays from getting stained.
